- United Family Medicine, with its two sites, serves close to 14,000 people from the West 7th community and surrounding neighborhoods.
- In 2006, approximately 13,000 people were active patients of United Family Medicine, contributing to a total of 45,000 visits to the clinic that year.
- In 2008, we cared for 11,838 patients, and 3,050 of them were new patients.

Clinic patient statistics

- The majority of visitors to the clinic are adults between the ages of 20 and 64.
- Approximately 21% of our patients are children ranging from infants to 19-year-olds.
- Approximately 13% of our patients are 65 years old and over.
- Our patients are racially diverse: In 2008, 3.4% were Asian, 20% were African born or African American, 55% were Caucasian and 10% were Hispanic/Latino.
- Medicaid reimburses 31% of all clinic patients, while approximately 14% percent are part of our sliding fee program and self-pay, and Medicare reimburses approximately 13%.
- Forty-one percent of our patients are covered by private insurance plans and chose our clinic because of the high quality of care they receive here.
- Thirty-seven percent of the people who use our services live well below the poverty level (below 200% of the federal poverty level). The median per capita income of those we serve ($15,995) is 30% lower than that of the rest of the country ($23,536).
- The unemployment rate in the neighborhoods in which most of our patients live is almost double that of the unemployment rate of all of Ramsey County. Specifically, the West 7th Street neighborhood unemployment rate is 8%, while that of all of Ramsey County is 4.3 percent.
- Refugees and immigrants who have resettled in our community make up 20% of the people we serve.
- Sixteen percent of our patients say they speak English “less than very well.”
- Over 25% of the people we serve do not have high school educations.
- Our patients and our staff members collectively speak more than 10 languages.
